Omo Kuraz Sugar Factory III

It is found at a distance of 874 km from Addis Ababa in Kaffa and Bench Maji zones  of S/N/N/P Region and South Western Ethiopia Region bordering Omo River.

Construction of the factory was officially started on March 11, 2016 by the 8 billion Birr loan obtained from Chinese Development Bank. It is a factory constructed by the Chinese construction company- COMPLANT and was officially inaugurated by His Excellency Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed (Ph.D) of FDRE on October 14, 2018.  And, when it reaches at level of operating in its full crushing design capacity, it is capable of producing 12,000 quintals of sugar a day. As it is built with the state-of-the-art of the technology, it can produce raw, plantation white and refined sugar as per the demand of the domestic as well as the international market.

Commencing of production of Omo Kuraz Sugar Factory Three has increased the number of operating sugar factories in Ethiopia to eight and they are Wonji Shoa, Metehara, Fincha, Kessem, Tana Beles, Arjo Diddessa, Omo Kuraz Two and Three sugar factories).

Over 2,588 citizens have got job opportunities on permanent, contract and seasonal basis while 419 small associations being organized have become beneficiaries.
